30 Day Sentence for Child Rapist Reconsidered, Women’s Group Responds
For Immediate Release: September 4, 2013
Statement from UltraViolet Co-founder Shaunna Thomas:
“We are heartened to hear that the unjust sentence for a Montana child rapist will be reconsidered, and that the judge responsible has apologized for the impact of his words. That said, the harm done by this sentence and the testimony of Judge Baugh are not easily undone— rape culture is alive and well and putting millions of women and girls in danger every day. We urge the Montana Supreme Court to step in and remove Judge Baugh from the bench.”
80,231 people and counting have signed on to an UltraViolet petition to the Montana Supreme Court calling for Judge G. Todd Baugh to be removed from the bench. See the petition here: http://act.weareultraviolet.org/sign/montana_judge_sp/
