Women’s Group Calls for Congress to Impeach Brett Kavanaugh Following More Evidence of Perjury and Sexual Misconduct Coming to Light
This weekend, a New York Times reporter revealed an additional allegation of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
According to the reports, Senator Chris Coons sent a letter to the FBI detailing the allegation — an account from Kavanaugh’s Yale classmate Max Stier — in October, just days before Kavanuagh was confirmed by the Senate. The FBI did not investigate the allegation or pursue any of the witness leads Deborah Ramirez provided to back up her credible claims.
In reaction, Shaunna Thomas, co-founder and executive director of UltraViolet, a leading national women’s group issued the following statement:
“As it becomes increasingly clear that initial investigations into Kavanaugh’s history of sexual misconduct were a sham, it is critical that House Democrats open immediate proceedings into these allegations, and the FBI’s botched investigation. We have known from the beginning — from the allegations detailed by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to those by Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick — that Kavanaugh is a serial sexual predator and a liar who perjured himself during his nomination hearings. He has absolutely no place serving on the Supreme Court, nor in any other capacity as a judge.”
“The American people cannot afford to have a serial sexual abuser who lied repeatedly during nomination proceedings seated on the highest court in the nation. Period. This charade has gone on long enough. Kavanaugh must be impeached immediately.”
Last year, UltraViolet urged Kavanaugh to withdraw his Supreme Court nomination immediately following allegations that he sexually assaulted Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. UltraViolet member Maria Gallagher was one of the survivors who famously confronted Senator Jeff Flake in an elevator. The group then slammed the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh’s misconduct after Dr. Blasey Ford testified before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee.
