NEW YORK – Yesterday, during a press conference at the New York State Fair grounds near Syracuse, New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo denied any allegations of sexual harassment or groping, telling reporters he “didn’t do anything wrong” despite multiple current or former aides accusing him of misconduct in some form.
In reaction to Cuomo’s continued denials, Elisa Batista, Campaign Director at UltraViolet, issued the following statement:
“Andrew Cuomo is an abuser and a liar. The fact that Governor Cuomo continues to deny the real, mounting allegations against him and remains in a position of power speaks to the very reason why survivors of harassment and abuse are so reluctant to come forward and share their stories.
“With such serious and credible allegations against him, Governor Cuomo should have resigned months ago and allowed the investigations into his conduct to be completed.
“For all the survivors discouraged by the failure to hold Governor Cuomo accountable – our message to you is simple: we hear you, we believe you and you matter more than the ego of Andrew Cuomo.”
