UltraViolet Urges Rejection of Andrew Cuomo’s Request to Amend Sexual Misconduct Report
ALBANY, NY — Earlier today, Andrew Cuomo and his attorney Rita Glavin filed a request to amend a report from the Attorney General’s office detailing multiple accounts of sexual harassment and misconduct by the former governor.
Elisa Batista, campaign director with UltraViolet, a national women’s advocacy organization and among the first groups to call for Cuomo’s resignation, issued the following statement in response:
“Andrew Cuomo’s memorandum should be rejected without hesitation.
“The Attorney General’s investigation is widely endorsed by survivor justice organizations like ours and individual survivors of sexual harassment and abuse, including Anita Hill. As evidenced by the report, AG James and her team thoroughly and fairly investigated multiple accusations of sexual harassment against Cuomo to find patterns of harassment and abuse. This investigation is a blueprint that can help pave the way for more efficient methods of both reporting and investigating workplace misconduct and abuse.
“Cuomo’s memo reads more like a publicity stunt than a request to amend investigatory results. His failures to both acknowledge and take responsibility for these transgressions say more about the fragility of his own ego.”
