We face a clear choice in this election: between a future in which we have freedoms and a say in decisions that impact our bodies and families, or a future where MAGA Republicans take away our freedoms and enact Project 2025. We must take action to work for the future we deserve across the country and up and down the ballot. That's why UltraViolet Action is building a multi-racial, multi-generational political home for feminists. Join our election squad to get the tools you need to combat sexist lies about women of color candidates and take meaningful actions to advance a multi-issue gender justice agenda.
Call California Governor Gavin Newsom: No solitary confinement for pregnant people!
Due to pressure from correctional authorities, AB 2527, the so-called Dignified Care of Incarcerated Pregnancy Act, was amended to allow the solitary confinement of incarcerated pregnant people for up to five days. Let's be clear: This newly amended bill is not aligned with the recommendations of the United Nations, the U.S. Department of Justice, or international standards, all of which call for a complete ban on solitary confinement for pregnant people. If you live in California, please call Governor Gavin Newsom to tell him to veto this bill!

No President is above the law. Tell Congress to pass the No Kings Act!
The far-right stacked Supreme Court, including three Trump-appointed justices, issued a ruling in July that grants presidents immunity for crimes committed as official acts while in office. This decision sets a dangerous precedent and is a direct affront to our democracy. Sign now to tell Congress: Pass the No Kings Act now. No president is above the law.
Tell Congress we need stronger protections for women and girls in sports!
SafeSport has left hundreds of young gymnasts in the care of coaches accused of serious misconduct. Athletes are calling for better protections to prevent not just sexual abuse but physical and emotional abuse from coaches who foster an environment of fear that prevents young women and girls from reporting misconduct. Let’s have their backs!
Call now to impeach Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito!
In light of all of the evidence showing that Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have repeatedly engaged in transgressions that undermine our highest court and democracy, it is crucial that the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee begin impeachment proceedings against them immediately. Have your cell phone handy and fill out the form below to call your House Representative.
Tell Congress to publish the Equal Rights Amendment!
If the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)--a constitutional amendment–had been passed when the suffragists first introduced the concept at the turn of the 20th century, this would have saved generations of women from discrimination and heartache like the wage gap, lack of care infrastructure to fully participate in the formal workplace, attacks on our reproductive rights, and more. The good news is all of the requirements of Article 5 to establish an amendment to the Constitution have been met. Congress just needs to officially publish it!
Survey: How much do you know about the Comstock Act?
The Comstock Act is a 150-year-old law passed when women could not vote that Republicans are resurrecting to ban all abortion care nationwide, without exceptions. Please fill out this short survey to let us know how much you know about this law.
We are still reeling from the misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies about abortion that flew out of Donald Trump’s mouth during this year’s first presidential debate, and President Joe Biden’s failure to shut them down. Once again, CNN, which hosted the debate, gave Trump free reign to spew toxic and confusing claims about exceptions to state and federal bans, abortions later in pregnancy, and "abortions after birth"--a delusional term concocted by GOP radicals. Sign the petition to tell CNN to stop platforming abortion lies!
Tell these companies to stop funding the Republican Attorneys General Association!
No one should be denied life-saving care or be criminalized because of a pregnancy. Yet, companies such as T-Mobile, CVS, GM and Elevance Health have funded the MAGA Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) and its coordinated attacks on our reproductive and civil rights. Let these companies know that they are on notice!
Recap from UltraViolet’s #RealTalkUV quarterly event
At the end of June, we held a Zoom call with our members featuring reproductive freedom experts and activists Jodi Jacobson, Sarah Lipton-Lubet, and David Cohen. The call focused on the Comstock Act of 1873, a 150-year-old law that Republicans are trying to resurrect to ban abortion nationwide.
While it was frightening to learn all the ways the far right could use this antiquated law to control us, we were also heartened to learn that bills to repeal the Comstock Act have been introduced in the House and Senate, and we are already fighting for their passage.
Tell DA Alvin Bragg: Swiftly retry Weinstein and ensure survivors are treated with care
Harvey Weinstein is a serial sexual predator who was fairly convicted. There is no doubt he committed the crimes he is accused of. It is outrageous that survivors must endure their trauma again by re-telling their stories in another trial. That’s why we are calling on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to swiftly retry Weinstein in a trauma-informed way that takes into consideration the needs of survivors.
Anti-abortion extremists are exploiting the Comstock Act, a draconian law from 1873 that bans the U.S. Postal Service and other carriers from mailing materials deemed “obscene.” They are using the law to prohibit the mailing of the abortion pill mifepristone or any drugs, instruments, or supplies for abortion care. The policy could also be enforced to stop medication from reaching people with HIV and AIDS, and even bar access to books that discuss women's history. As long as Congress keeps Comstock on the books, right-wing extremists will have a powerful tool to control our lives. Congress must repeal the Comstock Act immediately!
Tell the FTC: Protect our location data from anti-abortion groups!
Anti-abortion groups used the location data of people who visited 600 Planned Parenthood clinics across 48 states and targeted them with anti-abortion ads. While this is extremely alarming, it’s not surprising. But now we have a unique opportunity to prevent Near Intelligence, the company that’s been gathering and selling our location data, from ever doing so again. We need your help to force the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to intervene on our behalf and prevent this data broker from being able to sell our location data.
Congress: Pass the DEFIANCE Act to hold creators of deepfakes accountable
You may have heard that deepfake pornographic images of Taylor Swift went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter) last week, but you probably haven’t heard of Francesca Mani, the 15-year-old girl in New Jersey who was also a victim of deepfake porn. While the AI-generated images of Taylor Swift may have been removed, most people don’t have an army of fans who can come to their defense online. Congress can protect all of us from this abuse by passing the DEFIANCE Act, which will create a federal civil remedy for victims who are identifiable in a “digital forgery,” which is defined as a visual depiction created through the use of software, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or any other computer-generated or technological means to falsely appear to be authentic. Please add your name in support of this important bill today!
Tell Ford and General Motors: Stop funding anti-democracy, anti-abortion legislators!
Our freedom to decide if and when we grow our families and our freedom to vote both hang in the balance.
Creating non-consenual deepfake pornography is an act of sexual violence. Add your name to the petition in support of legislation to hold deepfake creators accountable!
