As Trump’s DOJ Meets with Maxwell Again, Advocates Fly Plane over Tallahassee with Banner that Reads “TRUMP AND BONDI ARE PROTECTING PREDATORS”
Tallahassee, Fla.—Today, UltraViolet had a plane with a banner reading “TRUMP AND BONDI ARE PROTECTING PREDATORS” fly above the Florida State Capitol building and federal courthouse, the site of yesterday’s meeting between Trump’s Department of Justice and Ghislaine Maxwell. The plane also flew around the federal correctional facility where Maxwell is serving a 20-year-prison sentence for child sex trafficking.
The message is a reminder that Trump and Bondi have pumped up this case to score political points––at the expense of Epstein’s and Maxwell’s many survivors, and are now reneging on their promises for full transparency around the duo’s criminal enterprise and network.
“Donald Trump and Pam Bondi do not care about survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse,” said Elisa Batista, campaign director for UltraViolet. “They’ve never taken into account the perspectives and needs of the children, now adult women, who Epstein trafficked and abused, three of whom have taken their own lives. Instead, they have heartlessly and carelessly used this case to score political points with right-wing social media influencers and the MAGA base. Survivors deserve better than this.”
For months, President Donald Trump’s and Attorney General Pam Bondi have shamelessly garnered publicity and support from right-wing social media influencers by promising to release files related to Epstein’s criminal network and death.
As part of a political stunt to rile up their base, the Trump administration invited right-wing influencers to the White House in February and gave them binders marked “The Epstein Files: Phase 1” and “Declassified,” filled with documents that already existed in the public domain. This stunt was a way to show that the administration would keep its promise to hold members of Epstein’s child abuse network accountable.
And now both Bondi and the president are reneging on their promises for full transparency surrounding Epstein’s egregious crimes and his criminal enterprise, claiming its investigation was fruitless. Today, July 25, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Maxwell as part of the administration’s investigation, which has set off alarms for legal ethics experts. In 2024, Blanche defended Trump against charges related to a hush money payment made to the pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels. It’s been established that Trump enjoyed a decades-long friendship with Epstein. He and his administration should not be overseeing this investigation; instead, they should hire a neutral third-party investigator.
“It’s time for Trump and Bondi to protect survivors and honor their wishes for full transparency and swift accountability,” Batista said. “They must release all files related to Epstein’s crimes, network, and enablers.”
UltraViolet is a leading national women-led gender-justice organization responsible for numerous impactful victories against sexual predators such as Harvey Weinstein, R Kelly, and Bill O’Reilly. The organization received a mention in the movie She Said for tipping off The New York Times to Weinstein’s serial sexual abuse.
Most recently, it published a petition calling on Attorney General Pam Bondi to resign for her role in exploiting survivors’ pain and using Jeffrey Epstein’s horrific case to score political points with her and President Trump’s right-wing base.
