UltraViolet Slams GoFundMe for Platforming More than 30 Fundraisers for Renee Good’s Killer in Wake of Escalating ICE Violence in Minnesota

GoFundMe campaigns supporting Renee Good’s killer don’t just violate the platform’s policies against fundraising for activities that support violence and terror—they’re also morally abhorrent and sanction escalating Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) violence in Minnesota.

UltraViolet, a leading national women-led gender-justice organization that works to hold the tech and corporate sectors accountable, released the following statement following its discovery of a staggering 33 GoFundMe fundraisers—a more than 90% increase over a two week period—for ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three, in Minnesota. On January 23, Good’s death was classified as a homicide by the Hennepin County Coroner’s Office.

“That GoFundMe would allow 33 fundraisers raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Nicole Good is unspeakably appalling, immoral, and cruel,” said Nicole Regalado, Vice President of Campaigns at Ultraviolet. “Platforming these campaigns not only violates GoFundMe’s policies, but also alienates the company from its empathetic customer base—real people who take its mission of “helping people help people” to heart.”

This isn’t the first time GoFundMe has received scrutiny for supporting ICE. In 2025, UltraViolet released two petitions condemning the platform for failing to act following reports that ICE agents were scraping user data as part of efforts to wreak havoc on families, communities, and entire cities. Now, UltraViolet has released a new petition signed by more than 22,000 people, this time calling on GoFundMe to take down all fundraisers for Renee Good’s killer.

“We have two questions for GoFundMe: Are you willing to be known as the company who helps people help killers? Will you help people raise money for the ICE agents who killed Alex Pretti, too?” Regalado said. “We’re clear-eyed in our demands and so are more than 30,000 of our members who have petitioned and emailed GoFundMe leaders. We demand that the company take down all fundraisers for Jonathan Ross and ban future campaigns supporting ICE killers. Legitimizing state-sanctioned violence is not only dangerous but very bad for business.”
