Women’s Advocacy Organizations Deliver Over 45,000 Signatures to Kansas City Royals Demanding Team Cut Ties With Vitae Foundation
UltraViolet & Planned Parenthood Call On Kansas City Royals to Stop Siding with Extremists, End Partnership with Vitae Foundation Immediately
KANSAS CITY — Today, June 30th, women’s advocacy group UltraViolet and Planned Parenthood Great Plains will deliver a petition signed by over 45,000 people to Kauffman Stadium, urging the Kansas City Royals to sever ties to the Vitae Foundation.
The delivery comes as part of a campaign launched by UltraViolet in response to announcements that the Royals will promote the Vitae Foundation, a prominent anti-abortion group, during all 162 of their games and on the Royals Radio Network, including 60 affiliates in six states.
The Vitae Foundation is known for their extreme anti-abortion stance and spreading of false information to women about reproductive health care options through their promotion of crisis pregnancy centers.

“In the past few weeks, the Kansas City Royals have doubled-down on promoting anti-abortion extremists, and the lies they tell women, by continuing to maintain their partnership with the Vitae Foundation,” said Shaunna Thomas, Co-founder of UltraViolet. “Simply put, the Vitae Foundation, and the crisis pregnancy centers they promote are a danger to women. They tell women that having an abortion will cause breast cancer, or make the woman unable to have children in the future – all demonstrable lies that have real consequences for women, their health and their families.
“This partnership is part of a deceptive anti-choice agenda, and by maintaining ties to the Vitae Foundation, the Royals are turning a classic American pastime into the propaganda arm for an extreme anti-abortion group and their radical anti-woman agenda. Royals fans, and frankly all Kansas City residents, deserve better.”
