UltraViolet Calls on MoMA Board of Trustees to Oust Longtime Epstein Associate Leon Black with Trump/Epstein Bookmobile Tour Stop
In partnership with The Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Bookmobile, UltraViolet called on MoMA’s board of trustees to drop Epstein affiliate Leon Black
Manhattan, NY.—Today, UltraViolet and the Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Bookmobile brought the Epstein files to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) as part of an effort calling on the museum’s board of trustees to remove trustee Leon Black, a longtime Epstein associate and accused rapist himself.
UltraViolet, a leading national women-led gender-justice organization responsible for numerous impactful victories against sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein, has been calling for the ouster of Leon Black, who appears in the Epstein files more than 8,500 times.
“Today’s Trump-Epstein Bookmobile visit to the MoMA makes clear the sheer size, extent, and reach of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal sexual abuse network, spanning decades and very prominent enablers — including MoMA board member and megadonor Leon Black,” said Nicole Regalado, Vice President of Campaigns at UltraViolet. “To think that a man appearing over 8,500 times in the released Epstein files, and who’s been accused of rape and sexual abuse by several women, is currently sitting on the board of trustees at MoMA — one of the world’s most important art institutions — is unfathomable.”
“For nearly three decades, Leon Black has played an influential role in deciding which artists we celebrate, how we make meaning of creativity and most importantly, what parts of the human experience deserve our attention and respect,” said Regalado. “An accused sexual abuser should not hold this type of power over art and culture, and whether knowingly or not, by serving its board, MoMA is helping sanitize his reputation.”
The Bookmobile, which includes millions of Epstein files, micro-printed in a single truck, is an initiative led by the Institute for Primary Facts and DEFIANCE.org to address the case for continued public pressure, transparency, and accountability, demanding the full release of the remaining files. The Bookmobile holds 440 volumes of files, around 800 pages each, which is approximately 2,500 pounds of paper.
“You cannot dismantle a system of abuse by only punishing the ringleaders while letting their financial backers, enables and associates walk free,” said Jenna Lowenstein, an organizer at the Institute for Primary Facts. “For too long, powerful enablers like Leon Black have hidden behind closed doors and legal firewalls, protecting their reputations and dodging their due reckoning while survivors bear the lifelong scars of bringing the truth to light. True justice is when everyone who propped up these horrific networks — no matter how wealthy or connected — is brought to answer for their actions, because until that happens, the cycle of harm will continue unchecked.”
The traveling Bookmobile exhibit features millions of printed Epstein Files, a timeline of Trump and Epstein’s relationship, and a tribute to survivors. Alongside the bookmobile, organizers displayed a large 10×8 foot timeline of Leon Black and Jeffrey Epstein’s relationship, calling on MoMA to “break up with Epstein BFF Leon Black.”
For years, UltraViolet has called for transparency and demanded accountability for all prominent figures with documented ties to serial abusers Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
“MoMA’s decision to keep Leon Black on its board is completely detrimental to survivors by inadvertently sanitizing Black’s reputation, despite very credible accusations of rape and sexual abuse put on his name,” said Elisa Batista, Campaign Director at UltraViolet. “But this isn’t an isolated incident. Institutions and powerful individuals have long lent their credibility, influence, and affiliation to perpetrators and enablers of sexual abuse to normalize rape culture, as we just witnessed with Trump’s sympathizing words for the seven members of Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity being accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a then-20-year-old student.”
