National Women’s Group Calls on San Diego Mayor to Resign Over Sexual Harassment and Assault Allegations

“We are calling on Mayor Bob Filner to resign. No woman should face the threat of sexual harassment or assault in the workplace, and yet far too many do because of men like Bob Filner. Events like this create aggressive and unfriendly workplaces for women that in the end drive many out of government and politics when we desperately need more women in those spaces. Mayor and former Congressman Filner has let America down, and his half-hearted apologies are not nearly enough. We demand he immediately resign, issue a full apology for his actions, and work to make the political space one in which women have the same opportunities and pathways to success as men.”
