UltraViolet Action Reacts to Epstein Messages Implicating Trump

Trump’s refusal to release the Epstein Files is a stain on our justice system and an insult to countless survivors abused and trafficked by Epstein and his pedophile network.

UltraViolet Action, a leading national women-led gender-justice organization responsible for numerous impactful campaigns that create a cost for sexism and sexual violence, released the following statement in response to the release of private messages by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which mentioned Trump’s possible knowledge of the ongoing abuse:

“The revelation that Trump personally knew several of the women abused and trafficked by Epstein should shake every American to their core,” said Elisa Batista, Campaign Director. “There can be no equivocation—the Epstein Files must be released immediately. We can no longer be kept in the dark about who helped facilitate this globe-spanning, sex-trafficking network that preyed on teen girls.”

Epstein was a registered sex offender with a lengthy list of high-profile connections who at the time of his death faced charges for serial sexual predation, abuse, and criminal networks. On Wednesday, members of the House Oversight Committee published private emails in which Epstein alleged that Trump “spent hours at my house” with one of his victims. Other messages outright asserted that Trump “knew about the girls,” in reference to survivors of Epstein’s trafficking, several of whom were underage.

One of those victims, Virginia Roberts, was recruited by Epstein associate and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell from…Trump’s Mar-o-Lago Club, which Roberts detailed in her posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl. Sadly, Roberts took her own life earlier this year, just to show the real emotional and spiritual toll sexual abuse takes on its victims.

“These were real people, real women and girls, whose lives were completely upended and forever altered. After all this time, they still haven’t received justice” said Elisa Batista, Campaign Director. “House leadership and Trump have continually refused transparency by blocking the release of documents related to Epstein’s serial sexual abuse and criminal network. They even went as far as to delay swearing in duly-elected Representative Adelita Grijalva, who would’ve been the decisive voice on holding a vote to release the Epstein Files.”

UltraViolet Action has been a leader in the movement to hold abusers accountable and end gender-based violence, fighting alongside survivors and achieving victories against sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly, and Andrew Tate. As part of its solidarity with survivors, the organization released a petition demanding the release of the Epstein Files as well as a petition demanding the resignation of U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“We will continue to stand with survivors and fight to center their voices, to make sure their bravery is not forgotten,” said Elisa Batista, Campaign Director. “Every day the Epstein Files remain hidden is another day justice is denied to more than 1,000 survivors who were sexually exploited and abused. Congress must immediately swear in Rep. Grijalva and pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act.”
