UltraViolet Celebrates Life of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Urges California Gov. Newsom to Stick to Pledge by Appointing a Black Woman to Feinstein’s Senate Seat
CALIFORNIA — This morning, California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein was pronounced dead at age 90. Feinstein’s replacement will be selected by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
In response to the news, Elisa Batista, campaign director at UltraViolet, a leading national gender advocacy organization, issued the following statement:
“As we mourn Senator Dianne Feinstein’s passing and honor her trailblazing career, we must also turn our attention to the critical task of filling her vacant Senate seat, which helps maintain Democrats’ razor-thin majority in the US Senate.
“Gavin Newsom must keep his promise and appoint a Black woman to her seat. People in California, and around the country, will be watching.”

Give for survivor justice taking flight!
While Donald Trump and Pam Bondi want to change the subject, we refuse to let them off the hook for protecting predators. That’s why we're flying airplane banners to keep Trump’s ties to child sex abuser and trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in the news. Epstein’s more than 1,000 survivors deserve transparency and justice. Your gift today will keep the spotlight on Trump’s and Bondi’s deflections and center survivors in the public narrative!
