Elon Musk’s Grok AI allows its users to generate sexualized images and videos of real people, including minors, in real-time and without consent–it must be removed from app stores immediately.

UltraViolet, a leading national women-led gender-justice organization that works to hold the tech and corporate sectors accountable, released the following statement following reports that Elon Musk’s AI chatbot “Grok” is allowing users to generate sexualized pictures and videos of women and children:

“We’re disgusted and disheartened by reports that Elon Musk’s Grok is now being used as a tool of mass sexual abuse against women and children,” said Jenna Sherman, Campaign Director at Ultraviolet. “Unfortunately, however, we are not surprised. Since the launch of Grok and the multiple scandals Elon Musk’s AI chatbot has been mired in, UltraViolet has been advocating for greater safeguards, especially against Grok’s potential for fueling sexual deepfake abuse.

In August 2025—two months after receiving widespread condemnation for Grok’s spewing of racial and anti-Semitic slurs and a month after the Pentagon announced a $200 million deal to use Grok—Musk’s company, xAI, launched what it called a “spicy” mode for the chatbot, allowing users to create pornographic images and videos by “declothing” random real people online. A widespread campaign of “digital undressing” and sexual abuse has ensued since, peaking in the last weeks. And while the majority of these AI-generated images target adult women, a number of them depict minors. This scandal comes just weeks after the U.S. military announced an agreement with xAI to integrate Grok into military systems.

“The fact that Elon Musk’s company ever greenlit such a project should terrify us, just as we should be alarmed by the unwillingness of companies like Apple and Google to step up to protect their users in the face of such blatantly criminal content,” Sherman added. “American families deserve better than this.”

Ultraviolet, which worked to stop child abuse on online platforms like Roblox and campaigned against the Defense Department’s adoption of Grok, has released a new petition calling on Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Puchai to immediately remove Grok from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, respectively.

“UltraViolet will continue to fight to build necessary AI guardrails to keep people safe and to hold accountable the tech companies who threaten our communities,” Sherman said. It’s time to put people over profit. The physical and mental well-being of every woman and child depend on it.”
