Chicago, IL —Today, UltraViolet Action had a plane with a banner reading “TRUMP AND BONDI ARE PROTECTING PREDATORS” fly above the Trump Tower and by the city skyline. The message is a reminder that Trump and Bondi have pumped up this case to score political points at the expense of Epstein’s and Maxwell’s abuse of at least 1,000 survivors, who reside all across the country, including in Chicago, and are now reneging on their promises for full transparency around the duo’s criminal enterprise and network.
“Survivors deserve so much better than what’s happening right now: rich people in power exploiting survivors’ pain for political gain,” said Elisa Batista, campaign director for UltraViolet Action. “It’s clear that Donald Trump and Pam Bondi do not care about the survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse, as they’ve never taken into account the perspectives and needs of Epstein’s many, many survivors, three of whom have taken their lives and all who live across the country, including this very city, Chicago.”
For months, President Donald Trump’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, shamelessly garnered publicity and support from right-wing social media influencers by promising to release files related to Epstein’s criminal network and death.
As part of a political stunt to rile up their base, the Trump administration invited right-wing influencers to the White House in February and gave them binders marked “The Epstein Files: Phase 1” and “Declassified,” filled with documents that already existed in the public domain. This stunt was a way to show that the administration would keep its promise to hold members of Epstein’s child abuse network accountable.
And now both Bondi and Trump are reneging on their promises for full transparency surrounding Epstein’s egregious crimes and his criminal enterprise, claiming its investigation was fruitless.
“Our goal with this airplane banner is to amplify calls for justice from survivors of Epstein’s and Maxwell’s abuse and make sure their stories are never forgotten,” Batista said. “The public deserves to know the names of these predators and enablers to keep them from abusing more women and girls.”
UltraViolet Action is a leading national women-led gender-justice organization responsible for numerous impactful victories against sexual predators such as Harvey Weinstein, R Kelly, and Bill O’Reilly. The organization received a mention in the movie She Said for tipping off The New York Times to Weinstein’s serial sexual abuse.
Most recently, it had a plane with an identical banner fly above the Florida State Capitol building and federal courthouse while Trump’s Department of Justice met with Ghislaine Maxwell, an Epstein associate who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for child sex trafficking.
UltraViolet Action published a petition calling on the DOJ to release the Epstein files and hold accountable all those who participated in Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
