National Women’s Group Responds to Jeffrey Epstein, Alex Acosta Ruling

Yesterday, federal judge Kenneth A. Marra ruled that prosecutors, under the leadership of former Attorney and U.S. Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta, broke the law when they concealed a plea agreement from more than 30 underage victims who had been sexually abused by wealthy New York hedge fund manager, Jeffrey Epstein.

In response, Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet, a national women’s advocacy organization, released the following statement.

“We applaud today’s ruling as a victory for the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abhorrent crimes, but there is more work necessary in order to hold Epstein and Alex Acosta accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

“Under Acosta’s leadership, a sexual predator and his accomplices walked away with a meager slap on the wrist. Epstein’s non prosecution agreement made the full scope of his crimes, and the identities of anyone else involved, completely private from the public, including from survivors.

“We are urging Congress to act immediately and impeach Alex Acosta.”
