THURSDAY 12PM: Sexual Assault Survivors Protest Outside Sen. Murkowski’s Anchorage Office Demanding She #BelieveSurvivors, Call for Kavanaugh’s Nomination to Be Withdrawn
Sexual Assault Survivors, Women’s Advocates Say a Sexual Predator Does Not Belong on the Supreme Court

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — On Thursday, September 27th, survivors of sexual assault and members of UltraViolet Action will rally outside Senator Lisa Murkowski Anchorage office to share their stories, support Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick and demand that the Senator call for Brett Kavanaugh to withdraw his nomination for the Supreme Court.
On Wednesday, lawyer Michael Avenatti revealed new allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by his client Julie Swetnick, a survivor of a ‘gang rape’ where she alleges Kavanaugh was present. She submitted testimony under oath that she witnessed Kavanaugh’s involvement in drugging and raping multiple vulnerable high school girls.
Sexual assault survivors and members of the women’s rights group UltraViolet Action will urge Senator Lisa Murkowski to believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick and reject Kavanaugh, arguing that a sexual predator does not belong in any position of power, let alone on the highest court in the nation.
WHEN: Thursday, September 27th. 12:00pm LOCAL TIME
WHERE: Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s Anchorage Office. 510 L street, anchorage, AK 99501

“We believe Julie Swetnick, we believe Deborah Ramirez and we believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Brett Kavanaugh is a sexual predator and must withdraw his nomination for the Supreme Court,” explained Shaunna Thomas, Executive Director and Co-Founder of UltraViolet Action, a leading national women’s group. “Blasey Ford, Ramirez and Swetnick have demonstrated tremendous courage in coming forward and sharing their stories of how Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted them. The mounting allegations against Kavanaugh are yet more proof his nomination should have already been withdrawn and that he is wholly disqualified from holding any office in government, let alone one on the highest court in the country.  Now is the time for Senator Murkowski to make it clear that she believes these brave women and finds violence against women wholly unacceptable by demanding that Kavanaugh withdraw his nomination immediately. Anything less is a betrayal of women—one that voters will remember this November.”
