WED @ NOON: Alaskans Protest Outside Murkowski’s Anchorage Office Demanding the Senator Reject Brett Kavanaugh’s Nomination for the Supreme Court
Advocates Say a Sexual Predator Does Not Belong on the Supreme Court
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — On Wednesday, September 19th, Alaska residents will rally outside Senator Lisa Murkowski’s Anchorage Office demanding the Senator reject Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for the Supreme Court.
Local advocates and members of the women’s rights group UltraViolet Action urge Murkowski to believe Christine Blasey Ford and reject Kavanaugh, arguing that a sexual predator does not belong in any position of power, let alone on the highest court in the nation. Protesters also warn that a vote for Kavanaugh is a vote to take away health care and threaten Alaska Natives.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 19th. 12:00pm LOCAL TIME
WHERE: Sen. Murkowski’s Anchorage office, 510 L Street, Anchorage, AK 99501
LOCAL CONTACT: Shoshanah Stone, 907-360-6302
“We believe Christine Blasey Ford. Brett Kavanaugh is a sexual predator, which wholy disqualifies him from holding any office in government, let alone the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh has proven that he has neither the integrity nor the character to be a Supreme Court justice,” explained Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet Action, a leading national women’s group. “A vote for Brett Kavanaugh is a vote to put a sexual predator on the Supreme Court and to undermine the safety and security of Alaska Natives. Senator Lisa Murkowski should have already announced her opposition to Brett Kavanaugh and we are deeply disappointed in her continued silence on Kavanaugh’s abuse of women.”
