Women’s Group Slams Bob Woodward’s Sexist Comments About Hillary Clinton
Earlier today, journalist Bob Woodward made patronizing comments about Hillary Clinton and her style of public speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “She shouts,” said Woodward, “There is something unrelaxed about the way she is communicating.”
In response, UltraViolet Co-founder Nita Chaudhary released the following statement:
“Not only are Bob Woodward’s comments on Hillary Clinton sexist, they’re indicative of the symptomatic issues women face within United States political system, in which female politicians, especially Hillary Clinton, are subject to immense double standards. No one criticizes the volume or demeanor of male politicians when they address the general public – in fact, critics have actually praised them for their passion. Yet Clinton is criticized for engaging in the same exact behavior.”
“Woodward’s remarks against Clinton are not unique, but he still deserves to be held accountable. The presidential candidates for 2016 are passionate individuals. Why would Bob Woodward hold that against the only woman in this race and no one else?”
