Women’s Group: Upcoming Senate Judiciary Committee Hearings on Kavanaugh Should Be Cancelled, Kavanaugh’s Nomination Withdrawn Immediately

Moments ago, lawyer Michael Avenatti revealed new allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by his client Julie Swetnick, a survivor of a ‘gang rape’ where she alleges Kavanaugh was present. She submitted testimony under oath that she witnessed Kavanaugh’s involvement in drugging and raping multiple vulnerable high school girls.

In reaction to the report, Shaunna Thomas, co-founder and executive director of UltraViolet Action, a leading national women’s group, issued the following statement:

“We believe Julie Swetnick. These allegations prove that Brett Kavanaugh is a serial sexual predator and should have no place serving on the Supreme Court, or in any other capacity as a judge.”

“Given the mounting allegations of sexual assault and misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh, the upcoming Senate Judiciary Committee hearings should be cancelled, and Kavanaugh’s nomination must be withdrawn. It is a travesty to force Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to testify alone, when there are numerous other accusers and witnesses who have valuable testimony to provide to the Senate.”

“Violence against women should have no place in our society and it certainly should have no place on the highest court in the nation. This charade has gone on long enough: Kavanaugh must withdraw immediately.
