Protesters from UltraViolet Action set up outside Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference to call for Apple to take child sexual abuse imagery more seriously. Their flyers ask for the removal of Grok, X, and other nudify technology as well as to crack down on child sexual abuse material in iCloud.
At the Cupertino Apple Park campus, Apple has welcomed developers and members of the press to watch its WWDC opening keynote. But protesters from UltraViolet, a women's advocacy group, are also in attendance with a sign claiming "Apple is powered by child sexual abuse."
Nita Chaudhary, a co-founder of UltraViolet, an advocacy group that fights sexism, denounced Mr. Trump for sticking by Mr. Lewandowski. “What Donald Trump is doing fits the very definition of victim blaming, and it is not only unacceptable, it is actively dangerous,” she said. “They are belittling Michelle Fields’s claim despite overwhelming evidence.”
“Sony can free Kesha and take a stand against rape culture,” the ad says. “Tell Sony to drop Dr. Luke.”
In partnership with women’s advocacy group UltraViolet, Tumblr presented five female-fronted acts — Jhené Aiko, Empress Of, Little Simz, Ex Hex and Tacocat — all playing to highlight one extremely vexing sum: 79 cents.
“Comments like these, which sound eerily similar to something that Donald Trump would say, have no place in American politics and speak to the impact that Donald Trump is having on the discourse coming out of the Republican party,” said Nita Chaudhary, cofounder of UltraViolet.
A national advocacy group for women called UltraViolet solicited the help of over 130 sexual assault survivors and their families to construct a letter to Sony Music Entertainment CEO Doug Morris to “take a stand against sexual assault and not renew Sony Music Entertainment’s contract with accused rapist, Dr. Luke,” according to the letter sent to Mic in a press release.
Over 411,000 signatures will be delivered from a combined four petitions from Care2, SumofUs, and two UltraViolet pleas.
