Arisha Hatch, the interim executive director of the women’s advocacy group UltraViolet, condemned the verdict as “a stain on a criminal justice system that for decades has failed to hold accountable abusers” and called it “an indictment of a culture in which not believing women and victims of sexual assault remains endemic.”

A billboard making its way around Yellowstone County takes aim at a former state judge and a ruling he made in a rape case which garnered national attention.
The billboards were done by UltraViolet, an anti-sexism group, who is hoping the award for Judge G. Todd Baugh is canceled. Baugh’s comments about a 14-year-old rape victim, saying she acted older than her chronological age, caused national outcry.

UltraViolet, a national women’s group that in 2013 collected 120,000 signatures calling for Baugh’s dismissal, is now petitioning the Montana State Bar Association “to stop condoning rape.” The group said Thursday it has more than 33,000 signatures.

But pressure rose on Target, which is competing for employees with Wal-Mart. Women’s advocacy group UltraViolet, for instance, recently ran a Web ad campaign that targeted devices located near three Target stores.
