With Enough Senators Against Gorsuch’s Appointment, UltraViolet Urges GOP to Avoid the Nuclear Option, Change the Nominee
SCARBOROUGH, MAINE — On Tuesday, April 4th, local members of UltraViolet, a leading women’s advocacy organization, will deliver a life-size plastic spine to Senator Angus King’s Scarborough office urging him to “show some spine” and join other Democrats opposing the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
Yesterday, forty-one Senators confirmed that they would oppose the nomination of Neil Gorsuch, making him unable to clear the 60 vote bar to confirm a Supreme Court nominee.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 4th. 12:00pm ET
WHERE: Senator King’s Scarborough Office.
83 US Route 1, Suite 1C, Scarborough, ME 04074
“Gorsuch would be one of the most extreme justices on the Supreme Court and a disaster for women, LGBTQ people, immigrants, people with disabilities, and working people. With forty-one Senators now oppose to Gorusch’s nomination, Republicans are threatening to radically change the Senate rules to force the nomination of Judge Gorsuch to the bench, undoubtedly allowing the Trump administration to run amok.” explained Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet. “Senator King needs to show that he has a spine and stand with forty-one other Senators in opposing Republican attacks on women and our democracy through the nomination of Neil Gorsuch. Now is the time for courageous honesty, Senator King, our future depends on it.”
