New TV Ad Campaign: Don’t Put Another Sexual Predator on the Supreme Court
TV Spots in Nevada, Arizona, West Virginia; Online Ads in Maine, Alaska and Texas Urge Republican Senators to Believe Women and Reject Brett Kavanaugh’s Nomination

A series of new hard hitting TV ads airing in Nevada, West Virginia and Arizona are calling on Senator Dean Heller (R-NV), Senator Shelley Moore-Capito (R-WV) and Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) not to put another sexual predator on the Supreme Court and reject Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination.

The ads, paid for by UltraViolet Action, a leading national women’s advocacy organization, come as Republican Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh faces allegations that he sexually assaulted Dr. Christine Blasey Ford back in high school.

The ads reference that almost 30 years after Anita Hill testified before Congress that now Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas sexually harassed her, and after the rise of the #MeToo movement, that Republicans in the Senate still have not changed – blaming survivors of sexual assault rather than believing them. The ads, which point out Republicans do not have a single woman sitting on the Senate Judiciary Committee, cite Republicans saying that that Dr. Blasey Ford was “mistaken” and “mixed up.” The ads tell Republican Senators that it is their party that is “mistaken” and “mixed up” and urges them not to put another Senator on the Supreme Court.

UltraViolet Action will also run similar online ads in Maine, Alaska and Texas urging Senator Susan Collins, Senator Lisa Murkowski and Senator Ted Cruz to refuse to put another sexual predator on the Supreme Court and reject Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination.

“We believe women and we believe Christine Blasey Ford. Ford has demonstrated tremendous courage in coming forward and sharing her story of how Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her,” explained Shaunna Thomas, co-founder and executive director of UltraViolet Action. “Dr. Blasey Ford has zero to gain from lying and everything to lose. Brett Kavanaugh on the other hand has a repeated and well documented history of lying to and misleading the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now is the time for Republicans in the Senate to make it clear that they believe women and find violence against women wholly unacceptable by publicly announcing their opposition to Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for the Supreme Court. Anything less is a betrayal of women, one that voters will remember this November.”
