“Throughout the 2016 election, Donald Trump promised to ‘drain the swamp’ and end corruption in Washington – but it is now clear that instead of fulfilling that pledge, Trump plans to pack the government with some of the most divisive and bigoted people imaginable,” explained Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet. “Steve Bannon is a white supremacist, a misogynist and a domestic abuser who has dedicated his career to turning Americans against each other.  Senator Jeff Sessions is just as problematic – he voted against a crack-down of sexual assault in the military, openly opposed the Violence Against Women Act, and was even deemed to be too racist by the US Senate to be a federal judge.  By selecting Bannon to be chief White House strategist and Sessions to be Attorney General – Trump isn’t draining the swamp, he’s legitimizing racism and bigotry – and that’s unacceptable.”
