FRIDAY 9AM-9PM: Women’s Group to Play Access Hollywood Footage of Trump Bragging About Sexual Assault on Non-Stop Loop on Giant Screen Near the White House
Action Marks One Year since the Access Hollywood Tape Became Public
12:00 PM ‘Rally to Grab Back’ in Lafayette Park Declares Women Will Continue to Resist Trump Administration
WASHINGTON, DC — On Friday, October 6th, roughly one year since the Access Hollywood footage of now-President Trump bragging about sexual assault became public, UltraViolet, a leading women’s advocacy organization, will run the footage on a non-stop loop via giant screen nearby the White House, reminding Americans that their President is a self-confessed serial sexual abuser. The video also reminds viewers that someone is sexually assaulted in the United States every 98 seconds, while calling on Americans to join the fight against rape culture and resist the Trump Administration.  UltraViolet will air the footage all day, starting at 9:00am ET and running through 9:00pm ET.
WHENFriday, October 6th, 9:00am – 9:00pm ET
WHERE: Constitution Avenue, Between 15th and 17th Streets.
Starting at noon ET, local UltraViolet members, joined by allied organizations like Planned Parenthood, Working Families, and NARAL, will take part in the “Rally to Grab Back” outside of the White House, declaring that women will continue to resist the Trump Administration, and its policies that hurt women and dismantle protections for sexual assault survivors.
WHENFriday, October 6th, 12:00pm ET
WHERE: Lafayette Square (on Pennsylvania Ave in front of the White House), Washington DC.
“The Access Hollywood video was a disgusting display of Trump’s true colors. It was not so-called ‘locker room talk,’ it was a man bragging about sexually assaulting women. That man may now sit in the Oval Office, but we will not let him — or anyone else — forget the tape or those comments,” said Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet. “Following the release of this footage, numerous women came forward to accuse Trump of sexual assault, and we have only seen this boorish behavior continue since taking office. The Donald Trump on that tape is the same Donald Trump that sits in the Oval Office every day, aggressively pursuing an anti-woman agenda, including the active dismantling of legal protections for survivors of sexual assault. That is why we are showing the video on loop in DC, and that is why it is all the more important that we stand up and ‘grab back.”
