THURS 11AM: Plane Flies Over Anchorage Urging Sen. Murkowski to Oppose Cassidy-Graham Health Care Repeal Bill
UltraViolet Action to Sen. Lisa Murkowski: “Don’t Back Down. Protect Our Care”
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — In an urgent effort to protect the Affordable Care Act and save health care for millions of Americans, UltraViolet Action, a national women’s advocacy organization, has commissioned a plane banner to fly over downtown Anchorage on Thursday, September 21st, urging Senator Murkowski to remain strong in defense of her constituents health care coverage, and oppose the Cassidy-Graham health care repeal bill. According to experts, the Cassidy-Graham proposal would eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s tax subsidies, end protections for pre-existing conditions, defund Planned Parenthood, end the law’s individual insurance mandate, and end Medicaid as we know it.
WHEN: Thursday, September 21st – 11:00am to 1:00pm (local time)
WHERE: Downtown Anchorage, AK
THE PLANE BANNER WILL READ: “MURKOWSKI, DON’T BACK DOWN. PROTECT OUR CARE”
In July, Senator Murkowski voted twice against repealing the Affordable Care Act, after months of public pressure from UltraViolet and several organizations. Her vote was critical to protecting the health insurance of millions of Americans, including over 41,000 people in Alaska.
“Earlier this year, Senator Murkowski stood strong for Alaska families in opposing the Republican efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and taking a wrecking ball to our country’s healthcare system,” explained Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet Action. “Now, it’s up to Senator Murkowski to protect our care again. The Cassidy-Graham bill would be a disaster for Alaska and the country, so Senator Murkowski – don’t back down, keep protecting our care. The lives of Alaska residents and millions more depend on it.”
