TODAY 12PM: Activists Hold Emergency Rally Outside Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s Anchorage Office Urging Her to Stop Trumpcare
Members of UltraViolet and Indivisible are Calling on Murkowski to Stand Strong, Keep Her Word and Vote “No” on ACA Repeal
Anchorage, AK — Today at 12:00pm noon, members of UltraViolet and Indivisible will stage an emergency rally outside of Senator Lisa Murkowski’s Anchorage office, urging her to follow through on her commitment to vote against the Affordable Care Act repeal. Though Sen. Murkowski voted against moving forward on ACA repeal legislation earlier this week, Donald Trump and members of the GOP are pressuring her to reconsider.
WHAT: Emergency Rally Outside Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s Anchorage Office
WHEN: Today, 12:00 PM Local Time
WHERE: 510 L St, Anchorage, AK 99501
Just yesterday, Trump took to Twitter, saying, “Senator @lisamurkowski of the Great State of Alaska really let the Republicans, and our country, down yesterday. Too bad.” Moments later, during an MSNBC interview, Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA) said, “somebody needs to go over there to that Senate and snatch a knot in their ass,” when asked about Donald Trump’s statement.
“Now more than ever, it is imperative that Sen. Murkowski ignore the GOP’s pathetic last-ditch efforts to change her mind on ACA repeal legislation with extreme, disturbing tactics like cyber-bullying, threats of physical harm, and political retribution” said Nita Chaudhary, Co-founder of UltraViolet. “Repealing the Affordable Care Act and replacing it with the Republican plan isn’t a solution, it’s an impending crisis that would take us back to the days of pre-existing conditions discrimination and junk plans that don’t cover basic health care needs. Senator Lisa Murkowski knows that. We are counting on her to prioritize the facts over tacky party pressure and fulfill her commitment to protect Alaska’s families by rejecting legislation that would kick over 20 million people off of their health insurance.”
This week, members of UltraViolet will also drop off flyers in Ohio, Nevada, and West Virginia urging Senators Portman, Heller, and Capito to keep their word and stop the advancement of Trumpcare.
