Yesterday, thirty-three sexual assault survivors from Arizona penned an open letter to Senator Jeff Flake, asking him to publicly commit to rejecting Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for the Supreme Court. In the letter, the Arizona residents explained: “If you vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, you are sending a clear and devastating message to millions of survivors that what happened to us doesn’t matter, and that a man who sexually abuses women and can still win a seat on the highest court in the country.”

“We believe Julie Swetnick, we believe Deborah Ramirez, and we believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Brett Kavanaugh is a sexual predator and must withdraw his nomination for the Supreme Court,” explained Shaunna Thomas, Executive Director and Co-Founder of UltraViolet Action, a leading national women’s group. “Blasey Ford, Ramirez and Swetnick have demonstrated tremendous courage in coming forward and sharing their stories of Brett Kavanaugh’s abuse.  The mounting allegations against Kavanaugh are yet more proof his nomination should have already been withdrawn and that he is wholly disqualified from holding any office in government, let alone one on the highest court in the country.  Now is the time for Senator Flake to make it clear that he believes these brave women, supports sexual abuse survivors, and finds Kavanaugh completely unfit to be on the Supreme Court. Anything less is a betrayal of women—one that his constituents will never forget.”
