Women’s Group Says the Vitae Foundation Misleads Women, Urges Royals to Cut Ties with Anti-Abortion Extremists
KANSAS CITY — Today, as the Kansas City Royals gear up to play the Houston Astros, UltraViolet, a national women’s advocacy organization, will fly a plane banner over Kauffman stadium reading:
“ROYALS FANS DESERVE TRUTH–DROP VITAE.”
The banner comes following recent announcements that the Royals will promote the Vitae Foundation, a prominent anti-abortion group, during all 162 of their games and on the Royals Radio Network, including 60 affiliates in six states. UltraViolet is demanding the Kansas City Royals cut ties with the Vitae Foundation immediately.

“Baseball is a classic American pastime–not a propaganda arm of an extremist anti-women group and their political agenda. Sadly, the Royals are making it that way.
“The Vitae Foundation lies and manipulates the public by spreading extreme, deceptive anti-choice propaganda not only to those seeking reproductive health care options, but also to young children. Their tactics are despicable and shockingly unethical: From telling women they will get cancer or suffer debilitating mental illnesses if they have an abortion to having staff with zero medical training dress up like nurses and doctors at their so-called ‘crisis pregnancy’ sham centers, this organization spreads lies—end of story.
“Make no mistake: This partnership is part of a deceptive anti-choice agenda, and the Kansas City Royals are not only condoning it, but willingly participating and amplifying it.
“We hope the Royals realize their mistake in promoting propaganda that misleads and mis-educates their fans and the public, and sever ties with the Vitae Foundation immediately. If the Royals will not step in and defend women who are seeking reproductive health care options and making difficult choices about their own bodies, UltraViolet and its members will.
More than 44,275 people have signed a petition from UltraViolet urging the team to cut ties to the Vitae Foundation and stop spreading misinformation about crucial health decisions to women.
