UltraViolet Applauds Clear Channel for Ending Ban on Women’s Health Center Ads
For Immediate Release: August 28, 2013
Statement from UltraViolet Co-founder Shaunna Thomas on the Clear Channel victory:
“Clear Channel’s decision today to allow ads for women’s health clinics back on the air is a victory for women everywhere. Clear Channel’s decision to come between women and critical health services was irresponsible and dangerous. Thanks to more than 62,000 UltraViolet members who joined a campaign calling for Clear Channel to end their ban on advertising for South Wind Women’s Center in Kansas and our partners WAM! and Trust Women, Clear Channel and other media distributors have learned a valuable lesson: It doesn’t pay to put ideology ahead of women’s health.”
More than 62,000 UltraViolet members joined in a campaign calling for Clear Channel to end their ban on advertising for South Wind Women’s Center in Kansas, and those members made more than 3,200 calls into Clear Channel’s main office.
