UltraViolet Praises Cosby Verdict as Victory for Sexual Assault Survivors Everywhere
Moments ago, a jury convicted Bill Cosby on all counts of aggravated indecent assault. In reaction to the ruling, Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of UltraViolet, a leading national women’s group, issued the following statement:
“Today, a Pennsylvania jury confirmed what we’ve known for years: Bill Cosby is a sexual predator. For too long, Cosby has abused and traumatized women with impunity, and those days are now over.
“We applaud Andrea Constand for having the courage to seek justice in the face of the Cosby defense team’s shameful attempts to discredit her and the #MeToo movement.
“This is a tremendous victory for sexual assault survivors everywhere, and, we hope, the beginning of our justice system taking accusations of sexual assault seriously and holding perpetrators of those crimes accountable.”
