UltraViolet Responds to Reports that Murdoch Family Plans to Remove Roger Ailes from Fox News
Nearly 50,000 Call on Fox News to Remove Ailes Immediately
Statement from Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of UltraViolet, a national women’s advocacy organization, on reports that the Murdoch family plans to remove Roger Ailes from Fox News:
“It is wholly unacceptable for Roger Ailes, a serial sexual harasser, to continue at, let alone lead, Fox News. Ailes’ continued presence puts the investigation and the safety of Fox News employees, at risk.
“While we are encouraged by reports that the Murdoch family is planning to remove Ailes from his current position—it is critical that they move swiftly, and in doing so, make clear that sexual harassment will never be tolerated at Fox News.
“The right to work in a safe and harassment-free environment is not a partisan issue. It is something all people in the workplace deserve.”
Nearly 50,000 people have signed a petition from UltraViolet, calling on Fox News CEO Roger Ailes to be removed immediately, and for Fox News to conduct a full investigation into allegations of sexual assault and harassment at the network and against Ailes.
