Women’s Group Again to NFL: Dan Snyder Has to Go
Moments ago, The Washington Post released a story detailing first hand accounts of the sexist and abusive conditions that cheerleaders faced working with the NFL’s Washington state Football team under the leadership of Daniel Snyder.
The report comes after an additional story from Washington Post last month, which details allegations of widespread sexual harassment in the team’s front office.
In response, Shaunna Thomas, co-founder and executive director of the leading national women’s organization UltraViolet, said.
“Enough is enough. Dan Snyder has to go.
“We will continue demanding accountability from the NFL until leadership both acknowledges Snyder’s behavior, which has continuously enabled, encouraged and fostered a hostile workplace and toxic culture for women, and calls for his permanent dismissal.
“We already know Snyder is a sexist, and we know about his continuous refusal to abandon the football franchise’s racist namesake. If today’s Post report is not enough for the NFL to act immediately, it will be yet another example of the NFL’s cavalier and discriminatory attitude toward women.”
In 2015, UltraViolet called for Commissioner Roger Goodell to be fired for failing to protect women working for the NFL. UltraViolet ran the #GoodellMustGo campaign, which included plane banners and advertisements carrying the message during NFC and AFC championship games and the Super Bowl.
