Women’s Group on Athenahealth CEO’s Resignation: “Good Riddance”
Today, it was announced that Jonathan Bush would be stepping down as Athenahealth CEO following a series of allegations that he abused women. Over the weekend, Bloomberg News, and other outlets reported on the expanding allegations that Athenahealth Inc. CEO Jonathan Bush assaulted his ex-wife and subjected a female employee to a ‘sexually hostile environment’ as well as other sexual harassment allegations.
Yesterday, UltraViolet called on Athenahealth’s Board of Directors to remove Bush.
In reaction to the news, Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet, a leading national women’s organization, issued the following statement:
“Good riddance. Violence against women is a public health issue, which is why we demanded that Jonathan Bush, an admitted domestic abusers and accused sexual harasser be removed as CEO of Athenahealth. We applaud his departure and urge Athenahealth’s Board of Directors to review their company’s policies and practices to ensure that all employees are in a safe working environment going forward.”
