Women’s Group Reacts to Donald Trump’s Speech on Sexual Assault Allegations: “Donald Trump Is a Walking, Talking Poster Boy for Rape Culture”
UltraViolet Slams Trump for Attacking His Victims and Trying to Bully Other Women from Coming Forward
Today, Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump gave a speech at a rally in West Palm Beach, FL, in which he addressed the latest sexual assault allegations against him. In his remarks, Trump strongly denied the allegations, saying they are “totally and absolutely false,” claiming a Clinton and media conspiracy against him.
In reaction to Trump’s speech, Nita Chaudhary, Co-Founder of UltraViolet Action, a national women’s advocacy organization, issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump is a walking, talking poster boy for rape culture. His speech today was beyond disgusting—it was flat out dangerous. Today’s speech used every tactic women are sadly too used to seeing: blaming the victims, trying to destroy their lives and bullying others from coming forward. This is the worst show of sexism and victim blaming seen on the national political stage.
“By bullying and harassing these survivors, Donald Trump and his campaign are attempting to normalize violence against women, and all Americans should be appalled. Donald Trump is nothing short of a clear and present danger to women, and we can never allow a serial sexual abuser anywhere near the White House. Survivors and all Americans deserve better.”
