Arisha Hatch, the interim executive director of the women’s advocacy group UltraViolet, condemned the verdict as “a stain on a criminal justice system that for decades has failed to hold accountable abusers” and called it “an indictment of a culture in which not believing women and victims of sexual assault remains endemic.”

A national women’s group has started an online petition calling out Dartmouth College as a “chronic offender” of failing to protect female students from sexual assault. The petition, by the group UltraViolet, has nearly 50,000 signatures so far and demands Dartmouth take action.
Karin Roland, the campaign director for UltraViolet, told ThinkProgress that the situation at Dartmouth has reached a boiling point — and it’s now possible to harness that frustration to push for real policy reform.
Along with impassioned students, faculty, and alumni, UltraViolet is standing its ground to finally demand meaningful change. “We’ve only seen lip service from Dartmouth in response to our campaign, but that just isn’t enough. We need actual concrete actions.”

“These are the facts of the lives of women in Florida,” says Karin Roland, Ultraviolet’s campaign director, “and the fact that women are earning 84 cents for every dollar a man earns in Florida, and that Florida’s representatives oppose the bill that would help close that gap, isn’t a political issue.”
A smattering of activists, protesters and concerned customers voiced their support for a Chicago woman who was fired from Whole Foods… According to the Ultra Violet website, more than 50,000 Whole Foods customers have signed a petition demanding Rhiannon Broschat be reinstated.

A coalition of women and labor groups will protest on Saturday at Whole Foods stores in Berkeley and Oakland. They are organized by national women’s activist group UltraViolet and Fight For 15, a Chicago-based labor union for retail and fast-food workers, who are demanding better treatment of women employees.
After Rick Ross brazenly promoted rape in the lyrics of his new single back in March, Ultraviolet responded by creating a pressure campaign that encouraged advertisers like Reebok to drop the artist as their brand ambassador. Their petition got thousands of signatures in a matter of hours.
